Switching from dog food

Generally, kibble is either extruded (crunchy) or pressed. There's no set rule for when a dog should eat pressed or extruded kibble, as this can vary from dog to dog. However, mixing pressed and extruded kibble is generally not recommended.

How to switch?

1. Switching from crispy to crunchy or from pressed to pressed.
If you're switching from extruded (crunchy) food to BF® extruded (crunchy) food, or from pressed food to BF® pressed food, do so gradually. That is, start with a quarter and gradually increase the amount, so that after a few days (7-9), you're completely switched to BF® food. When switching food, your dog's stool may be different than usual. This isn't serious; you can also choose to switch to meat-based food.

2. Switching from crispy to pressed (or vice versa).
When switching from extruded (crunchy) food to pressed food (or vice versa), we recommend switching all at once, not mixing. When switching food, stools may be different than usual, and your dog may need some time to adjust. You can also choose to switch to meat-based food or complete wet food.

Additional support when switching.
Meat-based food or complete wet food can be a solution during the transition. Feed your dog BF® meat-based food or wet food for a few days and then switch to BF® dry food (crunchy or pressed).

Switching to a different food can cause gastrointestinal imbalances. Digestive problems and loose stools can be the result. BF® 3-in-1 biscuits Natural or Cranberry or BF® Probiotic supplements, liquid, candy, or tablet, with gut-friendly bacteria, can offer a solution. Probiotics ensure optimal intestinal balance and your dog's overall health. They support immunity (e.g., after antibiotic treatment), digestion, improve stool (bowel movements), and offer support during stressful times (e.g., when switching food).
