Switching from dog food
In general, kibble is either extruded (crunchy) or cold-pressed. There is no hard and fast rule as to when a dog should be fed cold-pressed or extruded food. This can vary from dog to dog. However, it is generally advised not to mix cold-pressed and extruded kibble.
How to switch?
1. Switching from crunchy to crunchy or from cold-pressed to cold-pressed.
If you are switching from extruded (crunchy) food to BF® extruded (crunchy) food or from cold-pressed food to BF® cold-pressed food, please do so gradually. This means: start with a quarter and gradually increase the amount, so that after a few days (7-9) you have switched entirely to BF® food. When switching food, the stool may be different than usual. This is not serious; you can also choose to transition using meat-based food.
2. Switching from crunchy to cold-pressed (or vice versa).
When switching from extruded (crunchy) food to a cold-pressed food (or vice versa), we advise you to do this all at once, so do not mix them. When switching food, the stool may be different than usual and the dog may still need to get used to it. You can also choose to transition using meat-based food or complete wet food.
Extra support when switching.
Meat-based food or complete wet food can be helpful during the transition. You give your dog BF® meat-based food or wet food for a few days and then switch to BF® dry food (crunchy or cold-pressed).
