Nat, droog of een combinatie voor je kat?

Wet, dry or a combination for your cat?

Many cat owners wonder what's best: all wet food, all kibble, or a mix of both. We recommend feeding both types, as this ensures a complete and balanced meal.

Why wet food?
-More tasty and tempting: it smells more intense and tastes richer, which is why cats often love it.
-Ideal for seniors: older cats with fewer teeth find it easier to chew.
-Extra moisture: perfect if your cat isn't drinking enough. Wet food is packed with water.

Why chunks?
Convenient to use: you don't need to refrigerate them after opening, and they last longer. Your cat can nibble on them all day long.
-Less mess: no wet food scraps on the floor, which means less cleaning.
-Dental care: Chewing helps reduce plaque, like a natural toothbrush.
Kibble is higher in calories, so portion control is crucial. Many owners give too much, so we recommend combining the two in separate bowls.

But be careful! Never mix kibble and wet food in the same bowl! Here are 3 good reasons why:

Better hydration
Cats naturally drink little water. Males and older cats, in particular, are more likely to have urinary tract problems. By combining wet food with kibble, your cat automatically consumes more fluids, which helps prevent bladder and kidney problems.
Fewer unnecessary carbohydrates
Cats don't need carbohydrates in their diet. They can tolerate them if they're well-heated, but kibble naturally contains more than wet food. A mix of wet and dry food provides an ideal balance of protein, fat, and a limited amount of carbohydrates.
Easier to keep track of weight
Wet food has fewer calories per gram than kibble, which helps prevent obesity. This makes it a smart choice for cats that gain weight quickly.

How do you mix wet and dry food intelligently?
Want to give both? Then the trick is finding the right ratio. Start with the recommended daily amount of kibble (as stated on the packaging, depending on weight, age, and activity). Our recommendation: at least 1/3 wet food and 2/3 kibble. Important: Wet food and kibble have different calorie content per gram, so you can't replace them one-to-one. Use the packaging as a guide.

Best of both worlds.
Cats are true carnivores—they can easily survive on just wet food, without carbohydrates. But they're also real nibblers, happily taking small bites throughout the day. Wet food spoils faster if left out. The solution: Leave a bowl of kibble for your cat to eat throughout the day. Give her a (half) portion of wet food in the morning and/or evening. This way, your cat gets the best of both worlds: sufficient hydration, fewer carbohydrates, healthy teeth, and satisfying nibbles.
